Meek Mill and A$AP Ferg Go Full Throttle on “$lay”

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

In “$lay,” Meek Mill delivers urgent bars while A$AP Ferg commands the chaotic production.

“$lay” feels engineered in a neon-lit laboratory specifically for A$AP Ferg, with cartoonish trap drums ricocheting like pinballs and synths bouncing off the walls. The production is chaotic in a calculated way, the kind of beat that demands ad-libs shouted from the rafters.

Meek Mill storms in exactly how you expect him to, breathless and urgent, rapping like the booth is on fire and he has sixty seconds to empty the clip. Lyrically, he brushes off his competition and convinces us the crown was already sized for his head.

Ferg answers the beat like it called his government name. His chorus is explosive, his verse even louder, each bar delivered with a grin you can practically hear through the speakers. There is something unhinged yet controlled about how he attacks the track, turning the hook into a chant that feels ready for festival mosh pits and packed arenas. It is the kind of performance that leaves your ears buzzing, not from distortion but from pure voltage.

Meek and A$AP Ferg would fit right in if they ever decided to join ONYX (aka those loud ass negroes from back in the day).
