Jidenna Gets African Wavy In “Sou Sou”

Jidenna is on his Nigerian-American s**t as of late!

It’s been a Naija boy summer, but not because of Jidenna. Don’t get me wrong, he’s been dropping some pretty hot music these last couple of weeks, but I believe homage must be paid to the Burna Boys and the Mr. Eazis of the world before anyone else. With that being said, in “Sou Sou,” Jidenna delivers something that is both trill and motherland-approved, as on it, he blends together Nigerian broken-english with the swagger of an akata that is dripping.

I’m just not feeling Jidenna’s approach to music right now… I feel like he’s being Nigerian when convenient. I like this song, though!

I am loving the direction his music has taken. All of the four songs he has released has a central theme of being African and being proud of being black.
