Philly Blocks Keeps It Real In “Days Of Our Lives”

DAYS OF OUR LIVES

Philly Blocks

OVERALL RATING (?????)

“That’s why I need a headcount, looking like the census.”

Louisville, Kentucky is producing some serious hip-hop talent these days. One of my favorite artists out of the city is Philly Blocks — A grungy rapper that has punchlines for days and a level of hunger in his voice that is pretty chilling. In Philly’s new single titled “Days of Our Lives,” he shows the world why he’s both ‘the truth’ and ‘the realest.’

“Days of Our Lives” is a very deep track. With it being powered by this soap opera-like street instrumental, Philly Blocks lets loose, hurling out passionate bars about his rough come-up, his hustling mentality, and his trill ways. What I love most about the track is that Philly focuses hard on letting the world know about his story, which forces him to come across as exact with his metaphors, clever with his lyrics, and unstoppable with his flows. On some real s**t, I found no flaws with how he was rapping on the song.

Philly Blocks definitely gives me 90s hip-hop vibes. While I was listening to him, I thought of great MCs like Beanie Sigel, Young Cassidy, and Jadakiss (Who he mentions on this song).
