Tyga’s New $TARFACE Era Continues With “AFFECTION”

Rating: 3 out of 5.

A neon-lit retro anthem blending vintage funk, soulful melodies, and a completely unexpected artistic direction.

Tyga has always been willing to experiment, but his new $TARFACE character might be his most ambitious idea yet. Following the introduction of the character with “GAVE U RACKS,” he returns with “AFFECTION,” a track that pushes even further into this 1980s-inspired universe.

What stands out immediately is how committed the sound feels. Instead of simply borrowing nostalgia, “AFFECTION” feels designed to exist in its own world, combining vintage synths, smooth R&B influences, funk grooves, and cinematic melodies. The production feels like a lost record from an alternate version of Miami, filled with neon lights, luxury, and late-night energy.

Vocally, Tyga transforms into this quirky character, using pitched melodies and a playful delivery that feels completely separate from his traditional rap style. It’s definitely different, and while it may not be the type of sound everyone returns to, the creativity is impossible to ignore.

$TARFACE represents Tyga stepping outside his comfort zone and creating something with a full identity. The result is a stylish, experimental record that feels like a soundtrack to a movie that doesn’t exist yet. Check out Tyga’s futuristic throwback single “AFFECTION” below.
