Erk Escobar focuses on creativity to carry him to success.
In this day and age, I feel like rappers aren’t tapping into their creative side enough. Erk Escobar is an up-and-coming rapper that makes that a priority.
So where exactly does Erk Escobar’s musical journey begin? Well, it starts in his teenage years. At the tender age of 15, he began songwriting and recording music. Erk talked about some of his first experiences making music:
“During my 1st session, I was able to tell the engineer where to punch in and explain what sound I was going for” He asked Erk if he had recorded
before and his reply was “No, I just have it arranged in my head though.” From that session, I just kept recording and kept writing”-Erk Escobar
As Erk continued to mature, the more and more he was able to fine-tune his rap skills. By the time he graduated from high school, he was doing cyphers, linking up with big-time producers in St. Louis, and creating brand new styles of music with the rest of his “New Lou” comrades.
What I love most about Erk’s story is the relentlessness he has shown throughout his life to succeed. In the past, he’s acknowledged that he has tried 9-5 jobs, only to end up in the booth hungrier than ever because he knows making music is his true calling. Regardless of the career you’re trying to carve out, I think you can relate to such feelings of determination.
To date, Erk’s biggest project is his ESCO AND FRIENDS EP. On it, you get melodies that are fire, flows that are beyond crafty, and punchlines that are impressive. Erk has stated in interviews that he was in his bag when he created the album, and you can tell, because there is a level of originality and charm that oozes throughout it.
As Erk continues to create hip-hop music that is unique, I will continue to listen.
