Anybody else hyperventilating?
WHAT A JOURNEY IT HAS BEEN!
During Ratings Game Music’s earlier days, I would’ve never guessed it would be referenced by large entities like Wikipedia, get over 1000 comments, be seen by people in over 300 countries, and attract more than 400k viewers. I also didn’t think so many indie artists (Too many to count) would put their trust in us to gift them with posts dedicated to their music. When it’s all said and done, like Jay-Z said in “Hova (Izzo),” “You could’ve been anywhere in the world but you’re here with me. I appreciate that!” Seriously, you could’ve clicked on a site with better grammar, more technical takes, or a nicer logo (What the hell is that guy on our logo anyway?), but you decided to rock with us. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!
WHAT ABOUT THE FUTURE
Unlike Ice Cube’s character on Barbershop, I will never sell Ratings Game Music to a pimp! (Actually, I might think about it for $35 and a Popeyes chicken sandwich) For the foreseeable future, we will continue to give you fiends what you want and that is unadulterated music reviews! When I first started the site, I saw it as a fun little way to talk about music, but now I feel obligated to do what I do at a high level for you guys! You all have made me a better person, a better writer, and a better listener, so it’s time to return the favor.
BTW, WHAT DOES RATINGS GAME MUSIC EVEN MEAN?
Before Ratings Game Music was created, I used to keep my iTunes library crispy, rating every single song I added to it. The main reason I started this site was to document how I got to a certain rating. So when you see stars and s**t at the top (Used to be bottom) of a post, that is the grade I would’ve given a song that I added to my personal iTunes library. Nowadays, my personal library is crap, mainly because keeping up with RGM is so much f**king work. (I love the work, though, and will never stop) As for the other two words attached to the site’s name (‘Game’ and ‘Music’), the former refers to all these collections of great songs (And Yung Bans songs) going against one another, while the latter is a way to distinguish what the site is all about (If it just said ‘Ratings Game,’ who knows, people unfamiliar with the site might think it was about Amazon products or something). So there you have it, the explanation you sought after for years. Now leave me alone!
NEXT MILLION?
I’m not going to lie, the first million views were hard as s**t to get! We can’t relax now that we got it, though… (We can pop champagne, though! Where’s Ron Brows’ ass when we need him?)

Quincy is the creator of Ratings Game Music. He loves writing about music, taking long walks on beaches, and spaghetti that fights him back.
