5. THE KIND OF LOVER I AM

If you’ve ever wondered what dating Demi Lovato is like, “The Kind Of Lover I Am” is the song for you.

Demi made a charming, feel good song that tells you exactly how she would love you with this line “I’ll hold you, console you, every night I’ll show you. With the passion of a one night stand”, and more. She does make a note at the end of the song that she is currently happy being single but says if someone comes along, well, they’ll know what to expect from her.

You’ll be humming along with Demi’s smooth voice with “The Kind Of Lover I Am”.

4. MAD WORLD

“Mad World” stands out as an excellent take on the well-known song.

The original version done by Tears For Fears was a 80’s hit. Demi does it justice, though it certainly leans more towards the Gary Jules version. Her haunting vocals were a perfect matchup with this song. Obviously, the lyrics aren’t hers, but it fits so well with the theme of the album you wouldn’t even notice if you didn’t know about the original.

3. WHAT OTHER PEOPLE SAY (FEAT. SAM FISCHER)

Demi Lovato and Sam Fischer come together to sing about the sadness of growing up.

Here, Demi talks about what she imagined growing up to be: Just like her parents and thinking that she was better than the type of people who fall to addiction. But how the pressure of life and other people led her down a dark path. Whether you can relate to Demi’s situation or not, this song will make you feel something. When Demi and Sam harmonize together, it really tugs on your heartstrings.

2. MET HIM LAST NIGHT (FEAT. ARIANA GRANDE)

Demi Lovato joins up with Ariana Grande to meet up with the Devil in “Met Him Last Night”.

What happens when two ex-Disney celebrities go to a music studio? This song. The pop stars discuss meeting up with someone and falling in love with just one conversation. Knowing that it’s not how it should be but can’t help themselves.

“Met Him Last Night” is hypnotically catchy.

1. DANCING WITH THE DEVIL

“Dancing With The Devil” stands out as a return to form for Demi Lovato, while also a tribute to herself.

Demi’s voice is at its best here and lends itself beautifully to the song. It’s her confession about her relapse into addiction and overdose in 2018. How it started with some wine and then “Just a little white line”. To be honest, this song should’ve been the opening to the album instead. Its R&B style would’ve been a better hook for its listeners, whether they were a fan of Demi Lovato or not.

Her voice speaks the truth of her struggles wonderfully.

Demi’s new album is not what I expected…

When I think of Demi Lovato, I think of “Sorry Not Sorry” or “Confident” or “Heart Attack,” and that is not what I got out of this album. It felt more like a Taylor Swift album. I wanted to hear more bops from her. “Met Him Last Night” came so close to hitting the mark with me, but still dropped the ball and I think it was because Ariana was on it, which saved it (But only slightly). “Dancing With The Devil” came out on top as the best because of Demi’s vocals shined through but that didn’t work so well for the rest of her songs.

Don’t get me wrong, I understand that this is Demi’s confession to the world and maybe she didn’t want to do big songs like that, she wanted this album to be about her recovery. And that’s super awesome for her. A lot of people stop battling it and end up not winning the fight. Many don’t see the other side at all and she was nearly one of those people. Still, I hope Demi will get back to what she is known for.
