Thundercat Announces New Album “DISTRACTED,” Dropping April 3rd

This is Thundercat’s first major release since the pandemic (Wow).

Thundercat, the virtuosic bassist, singer, and genre-bending mastermind, is back. Known for his boundary-pushing blend of jazz, funk, soul, and R&B, he’s worked with a hall of fame-worthy list of collaborators, including Kendrick Lamar, Flying Lotus, Mac Miller, Snoop Dogg, and Anderson .Paak.

After a three-year hiatus since 2020’s It Is What It Is—which included standouts like “Funny Thing” and the viral hit “Dragonball Durag”—Thundercat is prepping DISTRACTED, set to release on April 3rd.

The album reportedly features contributions from heavy hitters like A$AP Rocky, Mac Miller, Tame Impala, Willow, Channel Tres, and Lil Yachty. With this lineup and Thundercat at the helm, DISTRACTED could easily become an album-of-the-year contender—and might even snag a Grammy. Then again, with the way legends are treated these days (cough cough Bill Belichick), who really knows if people are giving flowers where they’re due?
