Wale & J. Cole Do Vibrant Things In “Poke It Out”

Poke It Out

Wale & J. Cole

RGM RATING (??????????)

My ex used to call me “Q-Tip,” so I somewhat feel some type of way about this joint (Word to Rich Homie Quan).

Thank GOD for 2009, 2010, and 2011. In these three years, rappers such as Drake, Wale, J. Cole, and Kendrick Lamar really emerged onto the music scene. Today, two artists from that group, Cole and Wale, decided to drop “Poke It Out,” a fun banger that features killer bars, a catchy hook, and a beat that you’ve probably heard before.

I cannot deny the flipped version of the classic “Vibrant Thing” beat that powers “Poke It Out.” As for Wale and J. Cole, they absolutely shine on this joint! The former hits us with a hook that is catchy as hell and a verse that will remind you how sly he is, while the latter hits us with bars that will confirm that he is cooler than a cucumber and flows that will confirm that he knows how to parallel park cars in the midst of serious traffic.

So when a producer samples a beat like this, do they get paid the full amount?
