Joyner Lucas Keeps It All The Way Real In “My Escape”

RGM RATING (??????????)

Joyner empties the clip in this song.

Joyner Lucas is rapping at a pace that I think can legitimately have him ending up on a few people’s top 20 rappers of all-time lists. While most of his work this year has featured someone poppin, in “My Escape,” he gets s**t poppin all by his lonesome.

“My Escape” is officially Joyner Lucas’ hardest release this year (I feel like I say that anytime he releases something new). Not only does the song feature a dramatic beat that reminds me of some The Godfather s**t, but Joyner also hits us with raps that highlight his quick temper, his stuffed wallet, his competitive spirit, and his drug-dealing past. What I love about the song is that Joyner bounces between sounding demented and laidback throughout it, proving that he has more screws loose than a Jeep.
