5. stupid song

stupid song is an actually quite clever track about the beginning stages of falling for someone. It’s all forgetfulness and feeling silly, being overwhelmed by passion and big emotions that seem to take over your entire world. Olivia captures that feeling of liking someone so much that they become a constant in your mind, the first thing you think about when you wake up and the last thing you think about before bed.

Your feelings for this person become so massive that everything else suddenly feels small in comparison. It’s exciting, frustrating, magical, and honestly a little miserable all at the same time. Olivia perfectly captures that all-consuming crush that leaves you smiling one minute and overthinking the next.

4. honeybee

This song is honestly adorable. It had me smiling the entire time.

honeybee leans fully into the kind of sappy, over-the-top romance that would normally make you roll your eyes, but that’s exactly what makes it work. Olivia knows how cheesy these feelings sound, and she’s almost making fun of herself while embracing them completely.

The track is about that sweet stage of love where everything feels exciting and new. Every text makes you smile, every moment together feels special, and all you want is more. It’s the kind of syrupy affection that can seem ridiculous from the outside, but when you’re experiencing it, it’s the best feeling in the world. The song is playful, charming, and full of warmth.

3. the cure

the cure explores both self love and romantic love in a really thoughtful way. Olivia opens up about insecurities she carries about herself, the parts of her that she wishes she could change and the feelings she struggles to silence.

When she falls for someone, she starts hoping their love might be enough to fix those insecurities. Maybe if someone else sees her as beautiful, lovable, and worthy, she’ll finally be able to see herself that way too.

The problem is that love doesn’t work like that.

No matter how much someone cares about you, they can’t heal the way you view yourself. The song tackles jealousy, self consciousness, and self doubt with honesty, showing that some battles have to be fought internally. It’s one of the album’s most vulnerable moments and one of its most relatable.

2. less

less was easily one of my favorite songs on the album.

The track focuses on a relationship that’s been struggling for a long time. Problems keep getting pushed aside, difficult conversations never happen, and both people seem to be waiting for things to magically improve. Olivia keeps hoping that time will fix everything, but eventually she realizes that time alone isn’t enough.

When her partner decides to walk away because he can’t stand seeing her hurt anymore, she’s left devastated. Not because she wanted the relationship to end, but because she wanted them to fight for it.

The most heartbreaking part of the song is the realization that sometimes people leave because they love you, not because they don’t. Olivia wrestles with that idea throughout the track, wishing things had played out differently. It’s emotional, mature, and beautifully written.

1. what’s wrong with me

This track really stuck with me. The way Olivia describes her emotions feels painfully honest and incredibly relatable.

The song is about feeling off and not really understanding why. She’s struggling mentally and emotionally, crying more often, feeling anxious, losing sleep, and carrying a heaviness she can’t seem to shake. On paper, everything should be fine. She insists she’s happy. She insists she’s in love.

But deep down, she knows something isn’t right.

As the song unfolds, she begins questioning whether the relationship that’s supposed to be making her happy is actually the source of her pain. It’s a heartbreaking realization and one that Olivia captures beautifully. The uncertainty throughout the track makes it one of the most emotionally powerful moments on the album.

RGM RATING

In you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love, Olivia Rodrigo explores relationships from every possible angle. There are songs about crushing hard and falling fast, tracks about comfort and stability, and moments that dive into heartbreak, uncertainty, and self reflection. She examines not only romantic love, but also the complicated relationship we have with ourselves.

Sonically, the album blends pop, alternative, grunge, and indie influences in a way that feels natural and cohesive. Some tracks feel like intimate singer-songwriter ballads that belong beside a candlelit bubble bath, while others feel made for screaming along to in your car during a rainstorm.

One thing Olivia continues to do better than most artists is make you feel exactly what she’s feeling. Whether she’s falling in love, questioning herself, grieving a relationship, or finding her confidence again, every emotion feels genuine.

This album is vulnerable, dramatic, heartfelt, and deeply human. If you’ve ever loved someone, lost someone, or struggled to love yourself, there’s probably a song on this album that’s going to hit you right where it hurts.
