Loves Me Not
Tay Drummond
RGM RATING (????????)
An upbeat rap song with a childhood game built into the lyrics.
Tay Drummond is a Wisconsin-born and Florida-raised rapper. His musical journey started when he was fifteen, where he began dabbling in Christian rap. Soon after, he began transitioning to more of a hip-hop sound. Drummond is known for his witty bars, aggressive punchlines, creative hooks, and out-of-the-box wordplay. His biggest influences are J. Cole, Chance the Rapper, and 6lack. Since 2017, Drummond has been steadily releasing songs; these are available on his YouTube, his Spotify, and his website. Tay Drummond’s latest and most popular single is “Loves Me Not.”
“Loves Me Not” is reminiscent of the game people played when they were younger; they picked the petals from flowers, saying the iconic ‘they love me’/’they love me not’ phrase. In this song, Drummond teeters between knowing the person he likes doesn’t feel the same, and not being able to let them go. The song is incredibly relatable, down-to-earth, and fun. Drummond succeeded in creating a light-hearted atmosphere for a subject that is usually heart-wrenching. This style of composition is not something which is common anymore; it reminds one of T-Pain’s songs from back in the day. So, if you want a nostalgic reminiscent piece, stream Tay Drummond’s “Loves Me Not” today.
