Charleston, South Carolina-based musical creative, Chris Holly, is an indie-rock singer, songwriter, and wanderlust guitarist. In his music career, Holly has shared the stage with big names like Slayer, Pantera, Toadies, Hootie and the Blowfish, Billy Joe Shaver, and Darius Rucker. He was also a member of the metal band OMEN, a group that did extensive touring throughout North America. Nowadays, the artist’s unmistakable talents continue to shine as a solo musician. His sound is one thing that you can never predict; what starts out soft turns into metal, and what starts out as hard rock eventually becomes gentle. While it starts off with a gentle and almost-soothing guitar backdrop, “War Paint” soon builds up into a high-energy instrumental explosion. The whole message reflects an intense and extensive piece that flashes us back to hard rock. It’s all about being a soldier in a battle you ultimately are left alone in. Lyrics like “I fell for the promise, Lost myself, Deserted me, A lone soldier left behind” and “The inspiration of desperation, do or die, sink or swim, Worth fight for Your legacy?
