I believe that the genuine passion for hip-hop is evident in certain rappers. When I listen to artists like Kendrick, Cole, and Big K.R.I.T., I can clearly hear their deep love for the genre. Another rapper who unmistakably carries an unwavering adoration for hip-hop is North Carolina’s own MC Wess. His music is characterized by intricate storytelling and verses that lead listeners on an invigorating and emotionally charged journey. Some of Wess’s essential tracks include “Blue Skyes,” “Season,” and “Love Me.” Among his recent releases, “Adolescence” stands out as a prime example.

“Adolescence” feels like a page straight out of the TDE (Top Dawg Entertainment) playbook. The song kicks off with a mellow, laid-back beat that would perfectly complement Isaiah Rashad’s style. Wess, however, rises to the occasion and delivers a standout performance. He employs a variety of flows, ranging from fast-paced to tongue-twisting, to convey his significant life experiences, personal growth, and rebellious spirit. Essentially, the track serves as the ultimate narrative of a young Black man’s journey to success, making it utterly captivating to any listener.
