Lil Yachty is running hip-hop right now.
One could make a case that Lil Yachty has been the standout performer in the hip-hop scene in 2023. In the past twelve months, he has dropped perhaps the album of the year, a few bangers jits f**k with, and a few bangers old heads like myself f**k with. Apparently, Yachty isn’t done dominating. Today, on this strangely warm Friday, he returned to the music scene with a new single titled “LOTUS FLOWER BOMB.”
I love what Lil Yachty did in this song. As anticipated, “LOTUS FLOWER BOMB” features a reworked version of the beat that underlies Wale’s song of the same name. Over it, Yachty uses his distinctive, sluggish tone and choppy flow to talk about the many ways he can spoil a chick who’s f**king with him. He also talks about holding his homies down and being richer than everyone else on this planet (Including Antoine Walker). No kizzy, I rock with the track a lot.
Lil Yachty is creating a few flows that I think people are going to steal really soon (The flow he uses in this song is definitely innovative).
