French Montana & Lil Baby Join Forces For “Okay”

Rating: 4 out of 5.

French Montana steals his buddy’s flow for this track.

French Montana with the braids is a different breed. Lately, it seems he’s shifted focus from creating the biggest hip-hop record to delivering some gritty content. Unlike his past collaborations with pop stars, he’s now connecting with trappers. On Friday, the New York rapper made a return to the music scene with a fresh single titled “Okay,” featuring Lil Baby.

French Montana isn’t just besties with Drake; he’s starting to resemble Drake and has adopted Drake’s flow. In “Okay,” French uses the rap cadence that Drake employed in “What’s Next.” I find the delivery pretty tight, especially when paired with his lyrics centered around living life freely. Interestingly, I wasn’t too keen on Lil Baby’s verse in this song. While I appreciate the big-boy lyrics he delivers, I wasn’t a fan of how short it was or the somewhat lethargic tone. Nevertheless, French does enough to solidify this song’s hit status.

Damn, we’ve gotten to the point where I prefer a French Montana verse over a Lil Baby verse…
