I am a massive fan of Buddy. At his peak (which I consider to be 2018, when he released Harlan & Alondra), I believed he could do no wrong. Although the Compton native has released several singles and projects since then, I haven’t been closely following them, which makes me a bit frustrated with myself. This past weekend, Buddy made a comeback to the music scene with a delightful new single titled “You 2 Thank.”
Buddy channels his inner BJ The Chicago Kid in “You 2 Thank,” delivering his purest, most gentle vocals to express the joy of finding someone who brings a smile to his face. The song’s subtle Afropop vibes, infectious melodies, and heartfelt lyrics make it a rare gem in today’s music landscape, as feel-good tracks like this are becoming increasingly scarce.
Only food would make me sound this happy.
