1999 WRITE THE FUTURE, BADBADNOTGOD, Westside Gunn & Conway The Machine Link Up For “MiNt cHoCoLaTe”

Rating: 4 out of 5.

This might be the most exquisite gutter rap track I’ve ever heard.

For years, Griselda has been rapping over some of the most unique beats I’ve ever heard, many of which are dark and unfriendly sounding. On Friday, a song featuring two of the group’s members, Conway The Machine and Westside Gunn, was released on streaming services, and it boasts a beat that you absolutely need to hear.

“MiNt cHoCoLaTe” showcases one of the most blissful beats I’ve ever heard. The calming flutes and overall vibe may transport you back to middle school band class. Despite the serene backdrop, one might expect the two rappers to tone things down a bit. However, they defy expectations and deliver grungy raps filled with lyrics about shooters, hustling, and spending money. When would I play this song? Perhaps at an elegant dinner party with a group of negroes!

This song is expected to end up on Charlie Brown’s new trap album, “A Charlie Brown Christmas In the Hood.”
