Sam Smith Announces Fifth Album “Hazel Eyes”

Sam Smith opens a new chapter with their most personal album yet.

Sam Smith will release their fifth album, Hazel Eyes, this summer.

The 34-year-old singer has dropped the new single “My Guy” and confirmed that the follow-up to 2023’s Gloria will be available August 21 via Capitol Records UK.

On the subject of the album, Sam said: “This album is an incredibly special record to me. I have been writing it for over three years with a very small group of beautiful, dear friends of mine.

“This album is very personal, and I feel I have deepened myself as an artist through the making of it, through being a producer on the record, to walking alongside this record from start to finish and pushing myself at every single turn.

“This record and this music is incredibly romantic. I’ve learned so many life lessons through making this album, and I’ve documented it all through the music.”

In an Instagram post announcing the LP, the Writing’s On The Wall hitmaker said they are “so excited to bring this piece of work and music” to their fans.

Sam wrote: “An honest account of my life over the last few years, and a sweet escape for anyone who needs it.

“I believe, after this record more than ever, that love is a cure, music is a sanctuary, and honesty is my north star.

“I can’t wait to share it with you all. Thanks for sticking around all these years to listen.”

On their romantic new single “My Guy,” Sam croons: “And like all good things, it caught me by surprise / You could dream he’s yours all you want, but he’s mine / He’s my guy.”

The singer described the song as one they have “been waiting a lifetime to write and sing.”

They said: “Written with beautiful friends on a summer’s day in New York, this one fell out of the sky.

“In this sometimes cold and distant world, I hope you can feel the love and the closeness of this recording.

“I tried to capture the glow and the warmth of love in this one. It makes me cry—maybe it will make you feel a little love too.”
