Gunna rises to the occasion with his back against the wall, showcasing his resilience and talent in “Bittersweet.” I’m particularly impressed by how he pours his heart out, delivering profound lyrics about missing his YSL crew, expressing deep respect for his big homie Young Thug, and reflecting on the bitter side of fame. It feels like the first time since his release from jail that he’s truly delved into his personal circumstances with such honesty and depth.
What’s intriguing is the emotional depth of this track as a cohesive piece. Gunna leans into these numb vocals, which I think will resonate deeply with listeners.
