Conway The Machine & Joey Bada$$ Talk Big In “Vertino”

Rating: 4 out of 5.

Conway The Machine has been consistently dropping new music lately, with a slew of releases over the past year. It’s not just singles either; he’s been putting out full projects almost every other week. This past Friday was no exception, as Conway released a Hall & Nash 2 bonus track titled “Halal.” On top of that, he also dropped a collaboration with Joey Bada$$ called “Vertino” on the same day. Below, I will talk about the latter.

“Vertino” is colder than the leftovers folks ate in the ’50s. In the track, Conway The Machine takes center stage over a hard-hitting boom-bap beat, asserting his dominance. He boasts about his team of warriors and flaunts his lavish possessions. Additionally, he emphasizes his self-made success and acknowledges his ties to the streets by praising his shooters. Conway’s delivery is seamless.

Joey Bada$$ delivers a riveting verse that serves as the perfect conclusion to “Vertino.” In it, he reflects on the trials and tribulations he faced while hustling to make a living in the past. He candidly discusses enduring police raids and catering to the needs of addicts. His verse exudes a sense of power and resilience.

They don’t make five-minute rap songs like these anymore.
