Russ Continues To Preach Self-Improvement In “In The Dirt”

Rating: 5 out of 5.

Do you recall when Russ was often perceived as annoying because he boasted about being an independent artist making more money than many mainstream rappers? Well, his content has evolved in recent years. Nowadays, he frequently delves into themes of self-improvement and reflects on the positive changes in his life. His latest single, “In The Dirt,” bravely addresses these topics in depth.

Russ delves into various personal topics in “In The Dirt,” touching on his family dynamics, personal growth, and past struggles with anxiety. In the chorus, he asserts his victory over adversity, likening it to triumphing over the devil after a seven-game battle. Given that everyone faces challenges in life, the song’s themes are likely to strike a chord with many listeners.

“In The Dirt” shares similarities with “All My Life” by Lil Durk and J. Cole, particularly in their use of children’s choirs. Russ’s rap style in the song leans towards the raw side, featuring a steady flow and vocals that convey a mix of pain and defiance.

We need to prop up songs like this more. It’s absolutely beautiful.
