That Mexican OT architects wild-ass bars in “Texas Technician.”

5. Mucho Gracias

That Mexican OT fully takes his mask off in “Mucho Gracias.”

Here’s the thing: I hate this song’s audio quality. Particularly, the beat that powers the song sounds like some blurry The Neptunes s**t. Everything else is fire. I particularly love that OT opens up about what motivates him to be great and how much his family means to him. Personally, I love songs like this when artists keep it hella real.

4. Crooked Office (Ft. Z-Ro)

I love how young Texas rappers always pay homage to Texas GOATS.

Just because we get a chance to hear Z-Ro rap again means this song deserves a spot on this list. Do these jits know how great he was in the past? This isn’t just an honorary add either; the Texas legend puts up a fantastic verse that features some moments in which he sings a little and f**ks with this outstanding rapid flow. On some real s**t, Z-Ro is so good in this track that I don’t remember a thing That Mexican OT said.

3. Bull Riding (Ft. DRODi & Slim Thug)

“Bull Riding” has my favorite beat on this album.

I’ve always been a fan of sly Texas hip-hop beats so that alone made me add “Bull Riding” to this list. Another reason I think this track is dope as f**k is because it features three completely different rap styles: That Mexican OT brings the animation, DRODI brings the dynamic, focused energy, and Slim Thug brings the hella laidback energy. Oh yeah, the song also features a dope-ass hook and some lyrics the players of the world can appreciate.

2. 02.02.99

That Mexican OT has been slapping folks since 1999.

This is That Mexican OT’s version of “Can’t Tell Me Nothing.” Not only does he literally say, “can’t no one tell me s**t,” to start the track off, but he also drops lyrics that make him come across as a cutthroat, pistol-toting crazy man who is down to plow our innocent sisters (I believe Kanye was on that energy during his Graduation times). I also think the song has a dark feel reminiscent of the classic Kanye track.

1. Point Em Out (With DaBaby)

TWIN!

I’ve been mentioning it for almost two years now: That Mexican OT f**king sounds like DaBaby. What’s intriguing is that one hails from North Carolina and is Black, while the other is of Spanish descent and from Texas. Whatever the case may be, in “Point Em Out,” the two rappers are on the same reckless page. Each artist discusses rolling with dangerous individuals, engaging in confrontations, and even alludes to unsettling activities like putting people in car trunks to give them a taste of the Southern lifestyle. The dark and menacing beat is a fitting backdrop for That Mexican OT and DaBaby’s synchronized murderous energy.

Is Texas considered the South?

OVERALL RATING

(C+)

I’m not someone who thinks That Mexican OT is a bad rapper. I think the flows he f**ks with are crazy good, and I love the animation he shows in his tracks. In Texas Technician, OT continues to display his great skills and talk s**t with the best of them. Do I wish he expanded on his content just a little? Yes (He talks about smashing chicks and shooting people just a little too much). Do I wish he stepped outside his comfort zone just a little more? Yes (I actually want to see That Mexican OT go slightly commercial). But when it’s all said and done, this is a fun, explosive body of work that never generates boredom.
