Playboi Carti Drops “KETAMINE”

Rating: 3 out of 5.

Here’s a little background for you: I was fully aware that Playboi Carti’s “KETAMINE” single would drop last night at 9:30. The reason I didn’t decide to do a review for it until now is that I didn’t want too much wahala before going to sleep. (My son was already providing the wahala for the night also.) That was the best decision I’ve made this year.

In “KETAMINE,” Playboi Carti sticks to his signature unorthodox boasting. He references his plans to charm women, the abundance of jewelry in his possession, and his wealth. Additionally, he includes some menacing language, alluding to acts of violence like popping brains.

This track sounds like the other track Playboi Carti made (Pick whichever one you want to compare). It’s edgy, features altered vocals, lacks a hook, and combines elements of rock and hip-hop. While I don’t consider it a must-listen, I do think it warms us up to Playboi’s sound, preparing us for his forthcoming album.

I am in no rush to hear Playboi Carti’s new album…
