OK, this beef between Drake and Kendrick Lamar has officially become AI vs. AI. Last night, while we were rubbing our eyes and letting our dinners digest, Drake released a new diss record called “Taylor Made Freestyle.” While I do not doubt that his verse is real, Tupac and Snoop Dogg are featured in the song, and I’m pretty sure their verses aren’t.
“Taylor Made Freestyle” starts with verses by AI Tupac and AI Snoop Dogg that sound realer than a 3-dollar bill. In them, the two legends hype up Kendrick Lamar to go all out on Drake, representing the West Coast. In the midst of this, they take petty jabs at Kendrick Lamar’s gangsta. Drake’s approach here is undeniably disrespectful, yet it’s also hilariously clever.
Eventually, we hear a verse from Drake on the song, and as expected, in it, he takes jabs at Kendrick Lamar. He mentions that it took him only an hour or two to write “Push Ups,” he calls Kendrick scared for not releasing any diss tracks towards him yet, and claims that Taylor Swift owns stock in pgLang. In addition to his aggressive lyrics, I also appreciate the way Drake flows over the vintage-sounding, Dr. Dre-like production.
If you think about it, this is a revolutionary track.
