Kendrick Lamar Keeps His Foot On Drake’s Neck With “Not Like Us”

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

These guys literally won’t let me have a night out. In the past 30 hours, Kendrick Lamar and Drake have fired off four diss tracks: “6:16 in LA,” “Family Matters,” “Meet The Grahams,” and now “Not Like Us.” While Drake’s diss track is the most enjoyable, Kendrick’s has definitely had a darker tone overall. Thankfully, Dot’s latest release has a bit of a fun club vibe to it.

Have you ever danced to a song about pedophiles getting exposed? I haven’t… until now. In “Not Like Us,” over Hyphy production by DJ Mustard (whose association with the track is noteworthy), Kendrick Lamar continues to assert that Drake is involved with underage girls. Dot also takes aim at Drake’s associates, accuses him of betraying Lil Wayne by f**king on his girl while he was incarcerated, makes petty owl jokes, and calls him a culture vulture. Despite the serious allegations, the song’s upbeat vibe, catchy hook, and playful tone make it oddly lighthearted. I do think Kendrick sounds a little unhinged, though…

The same artist who brought us “B*tch Don’t Kill My Vibe” is now dropping tracks that are, well, killing our vibes in this beef. But hey, maybe that’s all part of the strategy.
