Crae Slides His Ass Off In “Back Up”

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

How did the booth not blow up after Crae’s performance on this track?

No wonder Crae is so fly—he resides from the DMV, aka the greatest area in America. So, why am I so high on his music that I can’t drive? Because he’s really good at keeping it fly lyrically, delivering sharp punchlines, picking hard-hitting beats to rap over, and flowing his ass off.

You can argue that 2024 has been Crae’s best year yet. In April, he released two EPs: THOT and V2. He also released a bunch of successful singles, such as “BOUQUETS FOR U” & “SIGNS.” Crae’s latest release is another single: “Back Up.”

“Back Up” is powered by a flipped version of Juvenile’s classic “Back That Azz Up” beat. Over it, we get one of Crae’s most dynamic performances yet. Throughout the track, he uses a highly hypnotic melodic rap style to speak on his love for Black women, his ability to ball, being a certified country boy, and knowing how to handle provocative women. The way he delivers his raps in a frantic manner impressed the hell out of me.

Crae has my attention now.
