Gordo & Drake Do Some “Healing”

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

What a very interesting track for Drake and Gordo to drop.

Do you know what I am officially tired of? Seeing people post all the places “Not Like Us” is being played. I live in the States—why should I care if the song is being played in Abu Dhabi? At the same time, the hoopla surrounding the track does showcase its impact on the culture.

While I think “Family Matters” is an incredible track (it’s currently my favorite of the year), Drake hasn’t quite dropped anything that has had as much impact as “Not Like Us.” However, that might change today as Gordo and Drake dropped two tracks today:
“Healing” and “Sideways.” Below, I will talk about the former (No, this is not deja vu).

I came out tonight and I wanna go home
I’d rather spend some time on my own
I can’t stand small talk nobodys real

More Heat: Drake’s Top 5 Albums

In “Healing,” Drake eloquently expresses his weariness with the complications of being in a fight with someone. He mentions a desire to stay in and spend time alone rather than go out. S**t, when you’re going 20 v 1, I would probably have the same mindset.

This track is very interesting. While Drake’s unfiltered thoughts really drive it, along with his emotional vocals that will quickly remind you that he has light skin, listeners get a lot of time with the production, which has a helluva build-up, piano notes that make me want to cry grown-man tears, and bass that gives out more punches than Amber Rose. This is a team effort, guys (How many times can you say that about a Drake track?).

Kendrick Lamar might have made Drake a better person, y’all. Prepare for a less demonic Drake moving forward.
