Rating: 4 out of 5.I f**k with Hillbilly Posty.
When Post Malone emerged onto the music scene, he dubbed himself White Iverson. At that time, he was rocking braids, making several basketball references, and dropping hip-hop music. Since then, Posty has slowly been transitioning into a different person—or rather, who he was always destined to be.
These days, Post Malone is rocking a regular haircut, talking about getting white boy wasted, and most importantly, making country music. Here’s the thing, though: I’m not mad at it because he actually makes very good country music. His last two drops, “Pour Me A Drink” with Blake Shelton and “I Had Some Help” with Morgan Wallen, are excellent.
Today, Post Malone continued his country ways by dropping a new single called “Guy For That.” The song features Luke Combs.
I’m pretty good at breakin’ down a heart
But pickin’ up the pieces is the hard part
She’s searchin’ for someone who’s gonna build it back
But I ain’t got a guy for thatPost Malone in “Guy For That”
More Heat: Post Malone – Austin (Album Review)
In “Guy For That,” Post Malone and Luke Combs boast about having people on their payroll who handle everything from fixing cars to designing rifles. However, they admit they lack someone who can mend their women’s hearts, which they likely broke through their own mistakes. The track highlights that money and human labor can’t fix everything.
As expected, “Guy For That” is a country track that Wrangler jeans enthusiasts will appreciate. The production includes classic country elements, a sturdy vocal performance by Luke Combs, and a vulnerable side of Post Malone, who delivers some voice cracks here and there.
Damn, if Post Malone and Luke Combs need someone, my homie Bamonte can fix relationships in less than 24 hours—or your money back.
