NAV Releases “Rexdale”

Rating: 3.5 out of 5.

NAV enters his introspective bag in “Rexdale.”

People forget that NAV is one of the 20 people that Drake is going up against. Drake simply didn’t acknowledge him in any of the disses. Unfortunately, because of Drake’s beefs, people haven’t been paying attention to the artists who are slated to drop albums this year. NAV is one of those people.

Believe it or not, prior to today, NAV has only released three solo singles since 2022: “Lately,” “Baller,” and his latest single, “Rexdale.”

Wanna stab me in my back? I’m all for it
Me and Frost ain’t spinnin’ back, we droppin’ cash on ’em
Bro got ’em with that stick and now he passin’
I’m geeked, I took a big breath and now I’m passed out
When I get back on my feet, I’m getting gassed out

NAV in “Rexdale”

You get every version of NAV that we’ve come to love throughout the years; that includes a vulnerable version who is losing faith in himself, a version who is down to put hits on folks, and a version who is down to get geeked. Interestingly, he doesn’t say much in the track.

You get a very droopy version of NAV in “Rexdale.” Over this atmospheric beat that has enough knock to get a club jumpin’, the Canadian singer delivers these depressing melodic raps that get slightly edgy when the lone verse comes around. Though my description makes the song sound like something you should pass, I do believe it has this very intoxicating feel (Especially on the chorus). You should definitely listen to it.

If we’re going to get a depressed version of NAV on his next album, that s**t might go quadruple platinum.
