I’m one of those people who believes Aminé is one of the most talented artists in hip-hop. What I appreciate most about him is his versatility—he can spit bars with intensity when needed, bring lighthearted fun when the moment calls for it, and deliver catchy melodies with ease. The only downside? He doesn’t drop music as frequently as fans might want. But today, just a few months before Christmas, he blessed us with a two-pack Shakur: “Passenger Princess / Adam.”
“Passenger Princess” rides on a hard-hitting, old-school R&B-hip-hop beat that gives off slight “Poetic Justice” vibes. Over this smooth production, Aminé and Smino trade verses about their whirlwind relationships, touching on themes of cheating, spoiling, and hitting home runs Juan Soto style. Both rappers deliver relentless flows, sounding effortlessly cool throughout. The way their unique styles layer seamlessly over the beat is one of the track’s standout qualities.
“Adam” is the more experimental of the two tracks. In it, Aminé reveals his vulnerable side, engaging in deep, reflective conversations with a woman who’s clearly got his emotions in turmoil. The song’s backdrop is laid-back, with a gloomy vibe and just enough rhythm to make you nod along. Aminé’s delivery features moody, aching vocals that make it sound like both his heart and stomach are in pain. Hey man, love yourself.
