The Weeknd & Anitta Unite For “São Paulo”

Rating: 4 out of 5.

The Weeknd toys with Brazilian funk in this exciting track.

Isn’t it wild that we might get a new album from The Weeknd by year’s end? That’s supposed to make people put their PTO in and start scheduling meetings with their plugs. So far, The Weeknd has dropped two singles from the rumored project: “Dancing In The Flames” and “Timeless,” both already making waves on the charts. And now, he’s just added the highly anticipated track “São Paulo” to streaming, which has only intensified the hype.

This track is packed with competing elements that vie for attention. The synth-heavy, shape-shifting electronic beat feels unpredictable, while Anitta’s filtered vocal snippets add a layer of vibrant chaos. Amidst this, The Weeknd’s angelic performance brings a sense of calm with its soulful melodies and heartfelt lyrics. Overall, I can see this hella dynamic banger going crazy in the clubs with the longest lines in the bathroom… I mean the longest bathroom lines. Yikes.

The Weeknd is a genius.
