Rating: 4 out of 5.This is one of NLE’s non-slut tracks.
Before I hit the streets and got hammered last night, I was under the impression that NLE Choppa would release a brand-new project called Sluffin SZN. Unfortunately, it didn’t come out; it will now come out on Christmas Eve. In the meantime, NLE did drop a brand new single called “Don’t Walk Away” with Carey Washington.
In “Don’t Walk Away,” NLE Choppa reflects on a tumultuous, bipolar relationship from his past. He shares moments of emotional pain caused by this person, describing how they left his heart scarred. At the same time, he expresses his longing for closeness, revealing how he cherished every opportunity to dance with them despite the hardships. I’m pretty sure this negro is dating the Inside The NBA crew.
This song is definitely weird as hell. While Carey Washington grounds it with a hook that cleverly flips Justin Timberlake’s classic “Rock Your Body,” the rest of the track veers far from conventional. NLE Choppa ventures into singing territory (with questionable results), while the production blends R&B with Jersey Club vibes for an overall restless energy. The music video adds to the eccentricity, where NLE turns into the second coming of Michael Jackson.
