André 3000 Explains Why He Asked Kanye to Remove His Verse from “Life of the Party” | RGM News

One of Andre’s last verses was the one he dropped on “Life of the Party.”

One of my favorite tracks from DONDA didn’t even make it onto the original album. It was actually “Life of the Party,” which Kanye West released with the deluxe version. In the original cut of the track, Kanye threw some subs at Drake, but those were removed. However, there was another part of the song that also needed to be cut.

In a recent interview with the New York Times’ Popcast, André 3000 opened up about how his verse on “Life of the Party” came together, what it meant to him, and what motivated him to write it. He also revealed that he asked for his verse to be removed after learning Kanye wanted only clean, curse-free verses for DONDA.

What a fascinating story André 3000 shares here. I love how he wanted to dedicate a verse to their late mothers, crafting something so heartfelt that he didn’t want it changed. I also respect how he went through all the songs Kanye sent him, picking the one that resonated with him the most. What I’m not a fan of, though, is how Kanye always makes everything more complicated than it needs to be. Still, this is a captivating story all around.

Andre 3000’s verse on “Life Of The Party” is one of the best I’ve ever heard.
