Trae Tha Truth Recruits DMX, Joyner Lucas, Chance The Rapper & More For “I’m On 4.0”

Rating: 4 out of 5.

This might be the most diverse “I’m On.”

Trae Tha Truth’s I’m On series has been nothing short of remarkable. Across the first three installments, we’ve seen a star-studded lineup featuring heavyweights like J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar, Tyga, Wiz Khalifa, Snoop Dogg, and more. The series feels like a musical bridge, uniting the new school and old school, the South and the North, and lyricists with non-lyricists alike.

Now, eight years after the last release, Trae Tha Truth has decided to bless fans with another sequel, reigniting the excitement and continuing the legacy of this iconic series.

“I’m On Pt. 4” is stacked with an eclectic lineup featuring Ty Dolla $ign, Busta Rhymes, Trae Tha Truth, Jeezy, Jay Rock (or Rod Wave), DMX (or Damien), Joyner Lucas, Method Man, D Smoke, Chance The Rapper, G Herbo, and Mark Morrison. The track thrives on its variety, showcasing a mix of styles layered beautifully over glitchy, dark production that sets a brooding tone.

While I wasn’t thrilled that Chance The Rapper had the most bars, DMX’s voice felt more like Damien’s, or that G Herbo closed out the track, there were definite highlights. Joyner Lucas and Trae Tha Truth delivered standout verses that brought sharp lyricism. Overall, I do think the track is good.

Trae Tha Truth should spread out these features.
