This song really is dreamy.

Whenever I hear about J-Hope releasing new music, I automatically think that it is going to be him rapping on a grungy, old-school hip-hop beat. The K-pop star is known to be a rapper in the well-known boy band BTS, so it isn’t a stretch to expect that element in his solo career. With that being said, I was very surprised to hear his light, smooth vocals singing through this entire track.

“Sweet Dreams” is a vibey R&B ballad with soft chords and a punchy but lighthearted beat. This song gives off straight romance, with lyrics discussing the feeling of being in love — and being loved the right way in return. The artist describes the moments when you are baring your soul to someone, allowing them to see your flaws and quirks and knowing they will accept and care for you anyway. J-Hope sings about his love interest in the song as if they are the sweetest, most beautiful thing he’s ever seen in his life.

“Sweet Dreams” leaves you with happy, floaty feelings. It is a great song to hum along to without it being too loud or overwhelming, making it perfect to listen to when you are multitasking or winding down from your day. This track is a breath of fresh air, and I think it would fit wonderfully on a springtime playlist.
