DDG & DaBaby Keep the Energy High in New Single “MOTION”

Rating: 4 out of 5.

What are the chances DDG grows his dreads back immediately?

Remember when people used to call DDG a struggling rapper? That narrative is getting buried deeper with every release he drops. Following the success of tracks like “Pink Dreads,” the Pontiac artist continues to prove he’s leveling up. On Friday, he returned with his latest single, “MOTION,” featuring none other than DaBaby.

As expected, “MOTION” delivers exactly what you’d want from a collaboration between these two — braggadocious bars about money, women, and street cred, with a healthy dose of swagger and unfiltered confidence. DDG sets the tone with a laid-back delivery that gives off pure “unbothered” energy, gliding over the slick beat that suits both rappers like a glove.

DaBaby holds his own with a verse that leans into his usual themes, but with slightly chiller energy than we’re used to — though he still makes room for his signature grit and mentions of firearms to keep things p.

Overall, “MOTION” is a smooth banger that further proves DDG’s growth and versatility, while DaBaby reminds listeners of his consistent ability to ride any beat with charisma. It’s a combo that works — and one that shows DDG’s motion in the game is only going up.
