Tory Lanez Drops Two New Singles from Behind Bars: “Dear Kai” and “Passport”

What Tory Lanez is doing right now is unprecedented.

After already turning heads with PETERSON—an album recorded while incarcerated—Tory Lanez is proving he’s far from done. This Friday, he delivered two new singles: the deeply personal “Dear Kai” and the seductive “Passport.” Both tracks serve as proof that Tory’s artistry isn’t slowing down, even while he’s behind bars.

In one of the most emotional tracks Tory has ever released, “Dear Kai” is a letter to his son that hits hard. He opens up about why he can’t be there, his legal struggles, and even touches on his son’s mother’s alleged drinking issues. What makes this track even more interesting is that it flips Eminem’s iconic “Mockingbird” beat, with Tory mirroring Em’s storytelling style in both flow and delivery. It’s raw, real, and surprisingly powerful.

Balancing things out, “Passport” taps into Tory’s silky-smooth R&B bag. It’s a short and sweet 1:11 of seduction, with Tory singing about spoiling a woman and racking up a tab in the name of passion. The track carries a dramatic, moody production that enhances the sensuality of the lyrics. Even though it’s brief, it leaves a strong impression—classic Tory.

With these two contrasting drops, Tory Lanez shows us once again why he’s one of the most versatile artists in the game. Whether he’s pouring his heart out or setting the mood, the music continues to speak—even from behind bars.
