Aminé’s third studio album might end up being his most experimental.
Among today’s mainstream rappers, Aminé might just be the most free-spirited and joyfully experimental. While he’s proven time and again that he can go bar for bar with the best—especially on the standout KAYTRAMINÉ project—he’s just as comfortable pushing genre boundaries with his signature blend of springy, alt-inspired sounds.
Now, with a new solo album on the horizon, Aminé appears to be leaning heavily into a house-influenced aesthetic, as heard in the first two singles: “Arc de Triomphe” and “Familiar.”
On “Arc de Triomphe,” Aminé is clearly having fun. The track rides an upbeat, infectious house beat, setting the perfect stage for his animated, unpredictable style. Lyrically, he’s all over the place in the best way—rapping about shaking dreads like Jesus Christ, flexing on the competition, chasing baddies, repping his hometown of Portland, and asserting himself as a true MC.
What makes the track work so well is his delivery. Rather than shifting tones or playing to the high-energy beat, Aminé keeps things cool and numb-toned, creating a playful contrast that enhances his frantic flow and punchline-heavy bars.
“Arc de Triomphe” is pure Aminé: quirky, confident, and effortlessly fun. It’s another exciting chapter in his already eclectic discography—and a strong sign that this next album could be one of his most danceable and dynamic projects yet.
