Ian Drops Trippy Trap Heater “Pack It Up”

Rating: 4 out of 5.

Ian looks like Tom Cruise on toxic levels of crack in the artwork up top.

I really like Ian. The problem is this: he’s in a position where people don’t take him seriously because they think he’s just cosplaying as a trap rapper—mainly because he looks more like an IT project manager than someone out the mud. But here’s the thing: don’t judge a book by its cover. Ian actually knows how to craft some pretty solid, trippy trap bangers. Case in point? His new single, “Pack It Up,” which dropped last night. I genuinely f**k with it.

As a self-proclaimed Gucci Mane historian, I have to say—I absolutely love the glitchy trap beat that drives “Pack It Up.” While Ian’s flow could be a touch more polished at times, the sly, melodic hook he lays down is catchy, and he spits his verses with a confident edge that fits the vibe.

Lyrically, Ian opens up about his vices—drugs, 304s, and chasing money—and while there’s definitely a sense that he wants to break free from them, there’s also a braggadocious tone that suggests he’s still living in that world. Honestly, that push-and-pull dynamic is part of what makes the song so intriguing.

At the end of the day, Ian might not look like your typical trap star, but he’s proving he doesn’t need to. “Pack It Up” is another step in the right direction.
