An angsty indie rock gem that takes an honest look at the disintegration of a partnership and the role one plays in it.
Canadian musical creative Snorkeler — the moniker of multi-talented artist Curtis Heimburger — is a force fueled by pure passion for making music, and he shows no signs of slowing down. His latest release, the indie rock single “Slow Burn,” arrives with a playful bit of self-promotion. On Instagram, he quipped: “If you haven’t heard ‘Slow Burn’ yet, you better dust off that old Bluetooth speaker your mom gave you for your birthday and head down to the nearest body of water with a lawn chair you fished out of the dumpster behind your apartment so you can listen to it.”
With its captivating blend of ear-pleasing guitar work and infectious beats, “Slow Burn” builds a moody, melodic backdrop that perfectly suits its reflective narrative. The song’s lyrics — “What happened to every Friday night? We’d go out and sing those songs we liked, But now we don’t and now it shows, That I just hate the view of your face” — unravel the emotional fallout of parting ways with someone who once meant everything.
Snorkeler delivers the story through passion-filled, expressive vocals, wrapped in an indie rock package with delightfully quirky flourishes. The result is a track that feels both introspective and cathartic, brimming with raw honesty about the disintegration of a relationship and one’s own role in it.
“Slow Burn” is an angsty indie rock gem that invites you to crank the volume, lean into the mood, and let its simmering energy wash over you. It’s equal parts emotional release and sonic escape — and it’s proof that Snorkeler’s artistry is only heating up.
