The hip-hop community is mourning the loss of Louisiana rap legend Young Bleed, who passed away at age 51 just one week after performing at the No Limit and Cash Money Verzuz in Las Vegas.

According to his son Ty’Gee Clifton, the Baton Rouge native — born Glenn Clifton Jr. — died on November 1 after suffering a brain aneurysm caused by a spike in high blood pressure. Ty’Gee confirmed the news in a heartfelt Instagram video, saying his father “didn’t have any real health issues” and that this was simply one of life’s difficult chapters.

“RIP to the biggest legend I know… Young Bleed!!! Love u Dad so much and will definitely miss u,” Ty’Gee wrote in his post, vowing to carry on his father’s legacy.

Young Bleed rose to prominence in the mid-’90s Louisiana rap scene and signed to No Limit Records, releasing his gold-certified debut My Balls & My Word in 1998. The project featured his breakout hit “How Ya Do That,” a Southern anthem that remains iconic decades later. His most recent project, Dare’ Iza’ God, dropped in 2022, proving his love for music never faded.

Fans and peers alike are celebrating his legacy — a true pioneer whose voice helped define Baton Rouge hip-hop.
