On Instagram, the singer revealed, “i wrote this song when i was 16. i truly never thought i’d release it but the moment fell into place and i couldn’t be more ecstatic to share it. She added, “if you’ve ever loved someone so much that you can’t stand being in the same room as them, because it brings back an overwhelming amount of love that has no where to go because you aren’t allowed to share it with them anymore (am i being too specific), then this song definitely will fill that space for you (as it has for me).”

Delivering an ear-pleasing blend of ambient synths and textured tones, “Hate It When I See Ya” creates an emotionally stirring genre-blending sound that’s perfect for the tune’s heartfelt reflection.

Lyrics like “Say something, tell me it don’t feel right / Waiting on you patiently, can’t count the times / Friends or lovers, baby, it’s a fine line / Tryna understand but I can’t read your mind” intimately explore the struggle of trying to move on from someone you still can’t get off your mind.
