Tory Lanez’s appeal to overturn his conviction in the Megan Thee Stallion shooting case has officially been denied by the California Court of Appeals.
The California Court of Appeals issued its final ruling on Wednesday (Nov. 12), upholding Tory Lanez’s 2022 conviction for assault with a semiautomatic firearm, carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle, and grossly negligent discharge of a firearm causing injury. His 10-year prison sentence is set to remain in place.
Tory, born Daystar Peterson, has been appealing the decision since his conviction in connection with the 2020 shooting of rapper Megan Thee Stallion, which left the artist injured in her foot. Despite claims of unfair trial procedures and improper evidence handling, the appeals court determined there was no legal basis to overturn the verdict.
Lanez, who has continued to maintain his innocence, is currently serving his sentence in California State Prison and will be eligible for parole in September 2029. The ruling marks a major conclusion to one of hip-hop’s most widely discussed legal battles of the past few years.
