Jr. Rhodes Delivers Nostalgic Vibes With “RATHER WAIT 4 U”

Rating: 4 out of 5.

A smooth, early-2000s-inspired single that blends charm, chemistry, and standout production.

Jr. Rhodes is yet another Canadian artist with more talent in his thumb than most of us have in our entire bodies.

Not only does he rap, produce, and contribute songwriting, but he also brings a unique flair that makes his music instantly stand out. He’s simply an artist who’s easy—and exciting—to listen to.

While we haven’t gotten a full project from Jr. Rhodes this year, he’s been consistently dropping singles, and one of his latest, “RATHER WAIT 4 U,” is one of his strongest offerings yet.

The first thing you’ll notice is the production: an old-school, Neptunes-influenced beat that immediately transports you back to the early 2000s. It’s nostalgic without feeling outdated, giving the track a timeless bounce.

Over the beat, Jr. Rhodes delivers a catchy hook along with a smooth verse that centers on patience, admiration, and genuine affection. He makes it clear that his girl is worth waiting for—both literally and figuratively—and he sprinkles in moments about indulging in her energy and wanting to stay connected no matter the circumstances.

Featured guest woahantonio adds a gritty contrast with a verse focused on treating his girl right, spoiling her when she’s acting the way he likes, and matching her energy. His tone brings an edge that balances Jr. Rhodes’ warmth.

Overall, “RATHER WAIT 4 U” is catchy, infectious, and carries the DNA of a classic commercial hip-hop single. This is what the game has been missing!
