How “The Reckoning” boosted 50 Cent’s music to new streaming highs.
50 Cent has been having a cultural resurgence, and much of it is tied to the release of Netflix’s explosive new docuseries Sean Combs: The Reckoning.
The four-part documentary, which premiered on December 2, 2025, dives deep into the long, complicated, and highly publicized history of Sean “Diddy” Combs. As the series’ executive producer, 50 Cent has been front-and-center in the promotional storm, attaching his name to every headline with the confidence of someone who has waited years for this moment.
Naturally, the renewed spotlight hasn’t come without friction. Old and new rivals have stepped into the ring, including Marlon Wayans and longtime adversary Ja Rule, both of whom have taken issue with Fif’s vocal involvement in the project. But conflict has never been foreign territory for 50. If anything, it has been the jet fuel behind his brand since the early 2000s.
The most surprising twist in all of this? The documentary has sparked one of the biggest musical boosts of his career. On December 9, 50 Cent earned his highest streaming day ever on Spotify. His classic debut album Get Rich or Die Tryin’ also surged to a new all-time peak in daily streams, proving once again that controversy and cultural chatter can turn nostalgia into rocket fuel.
50 Cent might have created a new way to generate buzz for a rap career.
