Lil Uzi Vert Experiments Fearlessly on “What You Saying”

Rating: 4 out of 5.

Lil Uzi Vert went lefter than AOC on this track.

Lil Uzi Vert is in the middle of one of the quietest relaunches I’ve seen in a while. Over the past few weeks, he’s been casually dropping loose singles, some staying on YouTube, others landing on streaming services, while freely experimenting with new sounds, revisiting his old style, and generally letting the rules go out the window. There’s no big rollout here, just music appearing whenever it feels right.

On a random Monday right before Christmas, Uzi added another piece to that puzzle with a new single called “What You Saying.” The track is driven by a dramatic Jersey Club–inspired beat that immediately spikes your adrenaline, paired with a hypnotic vocal performance from an international singer who honestly steals the spotlight.

As for Uzi, he melts into the production rather than overpowering it, riding the beat with passion while balancing moments of vulnerability and flexing. He sounds more immersed than dominant, letting the rhythm guide his delivery instead of forcing it.

Overall, “What You Saying” feels more captivating than outright enjoyable, and that’s not a knock. It’s Uzi experimenting in real time, testing boundaries, and seeing what sticks. It may not hit instantly, but it feels like the kind of track that makes more sense as the bigger picture comes into focus.
