The album that defined a generation of rap.
You really had to be there when Lil Baby released My Turn in early 2020; the atmosphere behaved differently. Car speakers thumped with extra confidence. Birds chirped their asses off. Hip-hop felt fresh as hell. What started as a hungry declaration has now calcified into a monument. Six years later, the Recording Industry Association of America has stamped My Turn 7x Platinum, making it the highest certified rap album of the 2020s.
The album, which features tracks like “Woah” and “Sum 2 Prove,” stormed the Billboard 200 and lingered like it had signed a lease. Then the deluxe arrived, pouring gasoline on an already raging engine. “We Paid” featuring 42 Dugg detonated into anthem territory, while “The Bigger Picture” widened the frame, proving Baby could dominate playlists and public discourse in the same breath.
With assists from Gunna, Lil Uzi Vert, Young Thug, Moneybagg Yo, Future, and Lil Wayne, this was not a solo sprint. It was a baton pass between titans.
Six years on, 7x Platinum feels less like a shock and more like destiny for My Turn. Whatever your current stance on Lil Baby, this cornerstone release remains untouchable in his catalog.
