Larry June Opens 2026 Smoothly With New Single “Who Coppin’”

Rating: 4 out of 5.

A laidback reflection that proves consistency still wins in hip-hop.

On the first real week of New Music Friday, pressing play on Larry June just feels right.

While plenty of artists spent 2025 chasing moments and headlines, Larry quietly stacked one of the most productive and successful years of his career. Multiple projects, steady singles, and an ever-growing fanbase made 2025 a low-key victory lap — even if it didn’t get nearly enough mainstream attention. Now, he’s wasting no time carrying that momentum into 2026.

His new single, “Who Coppin’,” sets the tone immediately. Built on a sparkly, dramatic, old-school beat with subtle funk and unmistakable ’70s flair, the production feels warm and intentional. It’s the kind of instrumental that invites reflection rather than chaos, giving Larry plenty of space to do what he does best: talk his talk without ever raising his voice.

Lyrically, Larry looks back on where his hustler’s mindset was forged, touching on the moments and circumstances that pushed him to grind even harder. His verses are delivered with that familiar laidback tone and steady flow, but he sprinkles in moments of light singing that add unexpected emotional weight. At times, he sounds like one of those fathers who never shows emotion — so when it finally happens, it hits a little different.

Larry June’s music makes me feel both unsteady and confident.
