“Hold On Me” proves The Flints know how to make familiar sound fresh.
The Flints, twin brothers George and Henry, out of Manchester, have quietly mastered a dangerous combination: spaced-out psych-pop and glossy, ’70s-coded disco. When those two worlds collide, you usually get something that doesn’t feel tied to any one era. In other words, timeless music. And over the past two years, The Flints have clearly stepped on the gas, flooding listeners with a steady run of singles and EPs that show growing confidence and refinement.
One of their latest offerings, “Hold On Me,” leans fully into that formula. Honestly, this sounds like a song you’ve heard a thousand times in your local pharmacy or grocery store — and that’s not an insult. It’s the good kind of familiar. The kind of track that sneaks into your head halfway down aisle six and refuses to leave.
“Hold On Me” is driven by euphoric production, a nice rhythm, and warm vintage textures that feel pulled straight from a disco crate. George and Henry deliver hypnotic vocals that glide effortlessly over the beat, perfectly matching lyrics about someone having a complete stranglehold on your heart — and your eyes.
The result feels refreshing, effortless, and smooth. It’s the kind of song that extends your late-night city drive just a little longer before you finally head home. Those are my favorite kind of tracks.
